About Seller: Established in 1885 with more than a century old iconic saga. Ganguram Chaurasia, a skilled halwai from a remote village of Varanasi, who came to Kolkata in 1880 took up a job in a tiny sweet shop owned by Raja Kamala Prasad Mukherjee who used to supply mouth-watering sweets to the Rajbari (Raja’s Palace).
The Raja, pleased with Late Shri Chaurasia’s service, gifted him a small plot of land near Manicktala (North Kolkata), where Late Shri Chaurasia, set up a small shop in 1885.
Ganguram has a long list of well-known clients whom they served such as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Satyajit Ray, Morarji Desai, Pandit Ravishankar, and Bhimsen Joshi. Even Queen Elizabeth-II also tasted Ganguram’s sweets during their visit to our country.
